The results are as follows: Race 1. 30 mph - 90 mph Both cars dead even until 60ish mph where my car pulled away ever so slightly (maybe 1/2 car length) Race 2. 50 mph - 100 mph same results as race 1. Race 3. 0 mph - 80 mph His car pulled on my car for the first 20 mph he was ahead by 1/2 car length and then i started to catch back up by 40 mph. You could get aftermarket 18" or 19" wheels that will fit the performance to give you more range though! Keep in mind that except of the Plaid versions, the P versions performance gain over their normal counterpart basically evaporates over 50 mph. Think of the P version of the 3/Y as having a super version of acceleration boost that flames out by 60 mph. So they seem a little punchier off the line and then fall flat by 50. If you price them out (Long Range Y with the upgraded rims), it's only a $5K difference. Compare that to a BMW X3 ($45K MSRP) vs. an X3 M ($70K MSRP). That's a $25K difference. Maybe not a fully apples to apples comparison, but it helped rationalize why I felt like getting a performance Y was reasonable. I was at Tesla this morning test driving the new Raven MX and was told by 2 Tesla sales that the brake calipers and rotors are different size between the performance vs. long range version. I thought both variant are the same brake system just the color difference on the caliper.
